There are some fantastic yoga studios in town. Whether you are new to yoga and need a welcoming, beginner-friendly studio to help you get started, or have been practising a while and want to try out a new studio, you are certainly spoiled for choice. Various styles are practised at the different studios – Vinyasa (a style that uses movement linked to breath), Bikram (hot yoga), Power Yoga (an energetic, fitness style of yoga), Ashtanga (classic yoga) and many others. Yoga Zone is one of the oldest, most established hot yoga studios in Cape Town. If you are looking for a challenging, dynamic, rewarding workout, this is a good place to go. They offer Bikram and heated Vinyasa yogain the form of  60 minute classes from Monday to Sunday at various times throughout the day. They are also open on public holidays, which means you’ll never have to go without your yoga fix. Prices range from a R170 intro special for first-timers, to monthly debits of R610 (1 year) or R640 (6 months). There are also membership intro specials, drop-in options and reduced prices for students.

YogaLife

YogaLife offers a range of styles, including Power, Vinyasa, Bikram and Sculpt. Catering to all levels, the classes combine a meditative aspect with a good dose of energy, resulting in a class that leaves you feeling good inside and out. Classes are held from Monday to Sunday at various times of the day, starting at 08h00 until 20h30 (18h00 on Saturdays). Rates range from R120 for drop-ins to 5, 10 or 20 class packages (R500 to R1600) and monthly unlimited (R750) packages for 3 months, 6 months or a year. Debited monthly fees are nicely discounted.

Hot Dog Yoga Studio

A wide range of classes are offered at Hot Dog Yoga, including Hot Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga, Power Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, Iyengar, Back to Basics, Pre-Natal Yoga, Kid’s Yoga and Restorative Yoga. They also offer non-yoga classes in Tai Chi, pilates and dance. It costs R100 for a drop-in class, R480 for a 5 class pass, R850 for a 10 class pass, R1200 for a 20 class pass, R150 for a week of yoga (new students only), and R800 for 1 month unlimited. Many other payment options are also offered. This studio is ideal for those who want to experiment with the many forms of yoga, in a fun, energetic atmosphere.

Yo Yoga

In the southern suburbs, Yo Yoga offers Bikram, Yo Bikram, Ashtanga and Vinyasa Flow. Classes are held every day of the week at various times, with classes for all levels of competency. Most classes are 60 minutes, but there are 90 minute classes are also on offer. Rates are fairly standard – there is a R120 drop-in class, R300 1 week unlimited, R750 1 month unlimited, various other time packages, various class packages ranging from 1 to 20 classes (R120 to R1600). Student discounts are applicable, and there are also special packages for new students.

GuruRamDas

If you are looking for a more reflective, nurturing yoga style, Kundalini yoga may be worth considering. GuruRamDas is a lovely, small studio in Gardens that offers Kundalini, Pre-Natal and meditation. The studio is light and welcoming, with friendly instructors. Classes are held throughout the week aand rates range from day passes of R120 to a variety of packages ranging from R500 to R1600, monthly unlimited packages of R750 and direct debit specials.
